Dear Theophilus,
I would appreciate your thoughts.
I was in a period of time when I was reading the word a lot.
Eg I read the king James in 7 days, then the amplified then the New American Standard etc.. averaging a complete bible every 14 days.
It started when I was reading through Daniel and had reached the point where it was said that the end would be in time, times and half a time.(Daniel l2:1-7)
I carried on reading saying to myself ‘I’m not going to try and work that out’.
As I was reading the Lord said to me ‘Martin, I want you to work it out’
Verse 9 says Daniel 12:9 9 He said, "Go your way , Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. Well, we’re in the end times, so I wondered if the Lord wanted to reveal it now. It seemed to me that ‘time, times and half a time’ was a simple mathematical equation. The end was to be in 2.5 periods of time. This makes it quite interesting because you don’t know which time periods to exclude until they’ve gone past. Eg. 2.5days, 2.5 weeks, 2.5 years, 2.5 decades, 2.5 centuries 2.5 millennium, 2.5 (not sure what the next time period would be) The only problem here is that although the book of Daniel was written around 500BC there are not accurate dates. So if it is 2.5 millennium then that would take it to around the period we are in. I also think that the Lord hid the answer to this simple equation in 2 Peter. The key, the time period, was hidden in the other side of the bible, whilst talking about the end.
2 Peter 3:8-10 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
I then started looking at the rest of Daniel 12:
Daniel 12:9-13 He said, "Go your way , Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. 10 "Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand. 11 "From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 "How blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1,335 days! 13 "But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age." First of all I started to check up on the abomination of desolation and in Matthew and Mark there was a word ‘standing’ that I decided to scrutinize in the greek. Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) It was the word ‘histemi’ and could be used for the foundation of a building according to Strongs dictionary. 476 i[sthmi histemi {his'-tay-mee} Meaning: 1) to cause or make to stand, to place, put, set 1a) to bid to stand by, [set up] 1a1) in the presence of others, in the midst, before judges, before members of the Sanhedrin; 1a2) to place 1b) to make firm, fix establish 1b1) to cause a person or a thing to keep his or its place 1b2) to stand, be kept intact (of family, a kingdom), to escape in safety 1b3) to establish a thing, cause it to stand 1b31) to uphold or sustain the authority or force of anything 1c) to set or place in a balance 1c1) to weigh: money to one (because in very early times before the introduction of coinage, the metals used to be weighed) 2) to stand 2a) to stand by or near 2a1) to stop, stand still, to stand immovable, stand firm 2a1a) of the foundation of a building 2b) to stand 2b1) continue safe and sound, stand unharmed, to stand ready or prepared 2b2) to be of a steadfast mind 2b3) of quality, one who does not hesitate, does not waiver Origin: a prolonged form of a primary stao {stah'-o} (of the same meaning, and used for it in certain tenses); TDNT - 7:638,1082; v Usage: AV - stand 116, set 11, establish 5, stand still 4, stand by 3, misc 17, vr stand 2; 158 We then have a possibility that the abomination of desolation is an actual building. 13 "But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age." We can get the location of the abomination of desolation from verse 11, because it identifies the location as being where the regular sacrifice is. Therefore we are looking for a building built on top of the Temple . The ‘Dome of the Rock’ was built on top of the temple, completed in 691AD. Its founding inscription was as follows: Founding Inscription Inside the building in classical Arabic is inscribed, "O you People of the Book, overstep not bounds in your religion, and of God speak only the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is only an apostle of God, and his Word which he conveyed unto Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from him. Believe therefore in God and his apostles, and say not Three. It will be better for you. God is only one God. Far be it from his glory that he should have a son." We can see from 1 John that the above is obviously from an antichrist spirit and therefore an abomination. 1 John 2:22-23 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. The next thing I noticed on scrutinizing Daniel 12 was that there could be a concealment in the translation. Verse 9 says the words were to be concealed and sealed up until the end time Daniel 12:9-13 He said, "Go your way , Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. 13 "But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age." It says that from when the abomination of desolation is set up there will be 1,290 days. 12 "How blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1,335 days! That gives us a date for the end of 694-695ad. Well that wasn’t correct!!! Again I scrutinized the word ‘ days’ the Hebrew word is Yowm, but it can be translated as ‘Year’. In fact it has been translated as year 14 times according to strongs below: 3117 ~Ay yowm {yome} Meaning: 1) day, time, year 1a) day (as opposed to night) 1b) day (24 hour period) 1b1) as defined by evening and morning in Genesis 1 1b2) as a division of time 1b2a) a working day, a day's journey 1c) days, lifetime (pl.) 1d) time, period (general) 1e) year 1f) temporal references 1f1) today 1f2) yesterday 1f3) tomorrow Origin: from an unused root meaning to be hot; TWOT - 852; n m Usage: AV - day 2008, time 64, chronicles + 01697 37, daily 32, ever 17, year 14, continually 10, when 10, as 10, while 8, full 8 always 4, whole 4, alway 4, misc 44; 2274 Now adding the 691 to 1290 we get 1981 And adding the 691 to 1335 we get 2026 This would suggest that the end period is from 1981 until 2026. I asked someone in my church to go on the internet and find out if anything significant happened in 1981 and he told me that it was the start of the ‘Aids epidemic’. Interesting. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-9 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober . 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, It is obviously important to the Lord, that the day does not overtake us as a thief, and that we should watch and be sober. Please let me have your thoughts. Kind regards Martin Martin@Talents.co.uk

READ ACTS Chapter 2
Obedience is one of the Keys into the Kingdom of God . The apostles waited in Jerusalem as Jesus commanded them. On the day of Pentecost* they were gathered together in one accord, suddenly they heard a sound from heaven of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all of the house where they were sitting. As this rushing mighty wind filled all of the house it is easy to see that the occupants of the house were totally immered, overwhelmed by this move of the Holy Spirit. Following the sound from heaven, they saw cloven tongues like as of fire settling upon each one of them.
This was the fulfillment of an old testament phrophecy given by the phropet Joel.
Lets examine what happened:
Acts 2:4 They were all .................... .......... the ............... ..................., and began to ...............

It is important to note here that when they began to speak with other tongues it was not the Holy Spirit talking, but the Holy Spirit giving them the words to say.
In this mighty move of the Holy Spirit there were many nationalities present who heard their own languages being spoken by Galilaeans, speaking the wonderful works of God. They were confounded, amazed and marvelled saying ' how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? '
Others mocking said ' These men are full of new wine '. In fact this was the new wine and they were drunk but not from alcohol but drunk in the Holy Spirit.

How did Peter describe the recieving of the Holy Spirit? Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive .......... .......... of the Holy Ghost.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is the promise from the Father the gift administered by Jesus.
Luke 3:16 (KJV) John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire :
Does the Holy Spirit automatically fall upon everyone who has been baptised into Jesus?
As this baptism is administered by Jesus we see accounts in scripture where Jesus does it himself, where nobody touches the people ( Acts 10 ), and also where he administers it through his body on the earth through the laying on of hands by Christians with that ministry. ( Acts 8:15-19, Acts 19:6)
Those in scripture who laid on hands for the recieving of the Holy Spirit, were i) the apostles and ii) Ananias, a certain disciple from Damascus .
Simon a newly baptized man tried to buy this ability with money, he was well rebuked by Peter!!
From scripture we can see that these men, the apostles and Ananias, were moved by God to lay hands on people for the administration of the Holy Spirit. It is interesting to note that Ananias was given the title ' a certain disciple ' . There we find the qualification for the laying on of hands for this administration. It has to be done by a disciple of Jesus. That is, any disciplined Christian who is given the unction from God to lay hands on a fellow believer for the Holy Spirit.
Does everybody pray in tongues once they have recieved the Holy Spirit?
To answer this question we have to ask another two questions.
1. When we have been baptized in the Holy Spirit do we automatically have the ability to pray in tongues?
2. If we have not yet prayed in tongues, though have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, is the baptism valid?
To question one I would answer. In scripture there in no account of anybody reciving the gift of the Holy Spirit who did not pray in tongues! In fact the evidence of somebody praying in tongues was deemed sufficient proof that they had been baptized in the Holy Spirit.
As the scriptures do not point blank say " every believer baptized in the Holy Spirit will speak in tongues ", we cannot form absolute doctrine in this regard. I believe the reason for this is that God will not force you to do something that you don't want to. In every account of the baptism in the Spirit in scripture we see the believers praying in tongues. Thus we have very strong reason to suggest that this ability to pray in tongues is almost automatic.
In all my experience of praying for people to pray in tongues every one of them, almost without exception has been released into this gift of the Holy Spirit, praying in tongues.
So what causes the blockages some people experience with this gift?
1. Faith. ' God will do it for other people but not for me'.
Well, you get what you believe! The antidote for this is strong teaching from the word. e.g. Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe ; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
The teacher, helper, disciple, midwife who is helping the new believer to receive this gift should convince them from scripture. Using your faith you should assuade them of what will happen. Give them your faith to help convince them. Testimonies are helpful.
What is it for, what does it do?
Acts 10:45 (KJV) And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 10:46 (KJV) For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47) Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48) And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Acts 11:15 (KJV) And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 16) Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 17) Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
Acts 19:1 (KJV) And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2) He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3) And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4) Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5) When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6) And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Water Baptism
Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins , and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
When the house of Israel crucified Jesus. They were not the only ones guilty. If we had not sinned then Jesus would not have had to die for us!
So like the question posed to Peter ' What shall we do? ', the answer is the same, repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

When we are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins we find that there is more happening than in the baptism of John. In the book of Acts those who had the baptism of John were then required to be baptized again in the name of Jesus. ( Acts 19:1-6 )
We know that this new baptism is one of repentance and remission of sins, but what else happens?
In the old testament Abraham was required by God to be circumcised, for him his children and servant , as a sign of the covenant ( contract ) God made with him. This circumcision was the cutting away of the unclean part ( the foreskin ) of the male penis. When the male children was born this was to be done on the eighth day.
Deu 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart , and be no more stiffnecked.
Deu 30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart , and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
Jer 4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart , ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem : lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
We then find in scripture that God wants his people not just to have an outward circumcision in the flesh, but also an inward change, a circumcision to the heart.

In this 'operation of God' there is a ' putting off the body of the sins of the flesh ', as we confess our sins and then are baptized in the name of Jesus our hearts are circumcised. The unclean part like a veil covering us , is removed by God operating on us.
In the many times I have had the honour to baptise people, almost without fail you can always see more light shining from them as they emerge from the water. The unclean part has been cut away.

To Recap.
When we are baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ. Then we are baptized into repentance, baptized into death, baptized into resurrection and baptized into his body.
1 Cor 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
Now that we have studied what happens when we are baptized the next question is ' When should I be baptized in water? '.

Acts 8:26-38 In this account of Philip preaching Jesus unto the eunuch of Candace queen of the Ethiopians, we witness the process of a man becoming born again and being baptized in water.

2. After hearing the word the eunuch said, ' See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

When somebody truly believes from his heart, there is no point in waiting for him to be admitted into the body of Christ. Baptise them straightaway. Who wants to live with the ' old man '?
Cut him away.
If I was baptized as a child is that sufficient?
There seems to be a little confusion in regard to baptism, sometimes because of the various baptisms we go through; Repentance, Jesus, death, resurrection , his body, Holy spirit, fire etc..
To find our answers we have to look at the purpose behind the baptism, not the outward motion, through water etc..
In the book of acts we find that those who had the baptism of repentance, brought by John, were required to go through water baptism again, in the name of Jesus Christ. Two water baptisms.
There is accounts of those who had already been baptized in the spirit, being baptized in water afterwards in Jesus' name.
Let us look at Jesus' baptism in water.
Mat 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
For Jesus, his reason for undergoing Johns baptism of repentance was to fulfil all righteousness.
It was a righteous requirement for Jesus to pass through. He knew that Father required it of him. Remember the voice from heaven " This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Jesus was without sin, nothing to confess!, yet he went through this baptism.
Jesus was an adult 30 years of age. When John came baptising Jesus knew he was to go through that requirement.
Jesus without question was already living for God, so that was not a consideration.
Jesus was circumcised on the eighth day as a baby, but still was required to undergo this baptism.
Jesus had been presented to the LORD as a baby, every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord.
Why did Jesus get baptized? - ' to fulfil all righteousness.'
If you have been baptized as a child then that is fine BUT it is not possible that it is the baptism of repentance. A baby does not yet have the understanding to repent.
So don't get upset by thinking that you have always lived for God etc.. Because look at Jesus! He went through that baptism of repentance YET He was without sin. He did it to fulfil all righteousness. Remember those in Acts who went through two water baptisms, its all right!
Should we baptise our children?
The first question we need to ask is why do we want to do it?
We cannot baptise them into repentance, they do not have the understanding yet.
Do we baptise them into Jesus?
Can we baptise them into Jesus if they have not given their lives yet to Jesus?
They would then need to be baptized into repentance later on.
There are no clear reported instances in the bible of children being baptized into Jesus. There are incidents where it is possible that children were baptized
Acts 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
Children would come under 'and all his', but did he have any??
Acts 16:15 And when she was baptized, and her household,
Here Lydia was baptized, with all her household. Did she have children, were they baptized?
Acts 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. Were the children baptized?
Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
We see with Philip that he baptized both men and women, why does it not mention children?
Without clear precise scriptures on the subject it is impossible to draw a conclusion on which you can base doctrine. There is not enough hard evidence.
God commanded Abraham to circumcise the children to bring them into the covenant with him.
So we cannot rule it out just because of their lack of understanding, that only applies to repentance which they would have to be baptized later for.
What we do know, is that the children are sanctified , i.e.. made holy.
1 Cor 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
Even if one parent is a believer then the children will be holy!
To conclude this matter : Do not worry that the children are not sanctified, they are if you are.
Wait for them to have understanding of sin, and when they want to join the body of Christ let them. Baptise them in water in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins.
Luke 18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not : for of such is the kingdom of God .
Now that we have been baptized in water in the name of Jesus, what is next?
Luke 3:16 (KJV) John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptise you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
